HOW TO- Street Style

Hey guys!

I haven't done an inspiration post in a while so I thought now is the perfect time to talk about my massive love for street style at the moment. It's comfy, cool and HOT. I'm not too much of a girly girl myself so street style is perfect for those who like to play on the masculine side of fashion (without looking like a boy). So how do you pull of this look? Stick around and I'll talk you through it!

Top 10 Tips- Street Style

1. Trainers

A great place to start is top pair of kicks! Street style is all about comfort so you want to look for something that your feet wont tire of, but that can also be styled with most of your wardrobe. The last thing you want, is to spend a bomb on a pair of shoes that can only go with two outfits! Although saying that, if you can afford, getting another pair that are a bit different and 'out there' can spice up a simple outfit so well. I personally think black or white is a good idea, it goes with a lot and it's classic.

 2. Over-sized

Time to raid your dads/ boyfriends wardrobes! The best thing about street style is that its very unisex so rocking men's clothes is such a great and affordable way to rock this trend! Charity shopping will also become your best friend as vintage sport shirts are so easy to find and its cheap- can't argue with that now, can we? Baggy t-shirts are the best place to start. You can wear them as a t-shirt dress just with trainers or tuck them into some shorts or jeans.

 3. Head-wear

Whether it be a beanie hat, snap back or a head tie, head-wear plays an important part in perfecting the street style trend. Beanies are great for winter, snap backs for summer and head ties look great with an up-do. They help create the whole attitude that comes with street style and are a great way to experiment with to create different outfits.

4. Mesh/ Netting

Mesh and netting is used a lot in street style. It's sexy, grungy and is great for layering. Netting is usually relatively cheap but its worth searching around for something decent. Basketball tops use a different sort of mesh but are equally as popular. Mesh dresses look great over high waisted hotpants and a bralet to create a less revealing outfit. Fishnet socks are a great hit at the moment too!

 5. Jewellery

This is my favourite part! If you know me then you will know that I adore hoop earrings. Jewellery plays a very important part in street style, it can add some attitude and stop unisex outfits from looking too masculine. Any form of hoops earrings look fab with almost anything and chain necklaces can transform a bleak outfit. And the best part- you can get these pretty much anywhere!

6. Brands

Brands like Adidas, Nike, Huf ect. are used a lot in street wear. Brands are usually expensive to buy new but you if you can pick them up from a charity shop, it's far cheaper and vintage!

7. Sport Inspired

Get inspired! Basketball, Baseball, Skateboarding, whatever you like. Sport is a big inspiration for street style and plays on the unisex style.

 8. Make up

Now, this isn't necessary. I'm not saying that you have to wear make-up AT ALL to pull off this trend, but as a lover of makeup myself, I thought I'd share some inspiration for those that are interested. Eyebrows, Lips and Eyes seem to be played on the most, experimenting with this can help to add a bit of extra attitude to your outfit.

9. Jackets

Bomber, Denim and Leather jackets are all perfect for the street style trend. You want something that's loose fitted but not so much that you look like you're drowning in it!

10. Attitude

Street style is ALL about the attitude, so 'do your squats, eat your vegetables, wear red lipstick, and don't let boys be mean to you' and most importantly ROCK the trend.

Apologies for the mildly late post but this took a lot of time to put together!
Thanks for reading guys!
